Liverpool garden irrigation springs from
rain recycling

The superb new public park which will sit at the heart of the Paradise Project,
the £1 billion plus scheme for regenerating Liverpool’s city centre starting
January 2007 and due for completion in April 2008 (Liverpool’s European
Capital of Culture Year), will see the first novel and clever use of a Tubosider stormwater management system. The rainwater it harvests will be stored,
filtered and fed back into an automatic irrigation system for the 20,000 sq m
of landscaping.

Manufactured by Tubosider, the St Helens based UK leader in stormwater
management systems, the 3 metre diameter galvanised corrugated steel
tank recently installed on the site of the former Chavasse Park will provide
over 200 cubic metres of water storage. But rather than being designed to
discharge its rainwater at the local authority limit, it has instead been fitted
with a control valve to maintain its water level in order to irrigate the gardens.
