RAF project rolls with the rock

RAF Kinloss in Scotland, home to the Nimrod fleet of long-range maritime patrol,
defence and rescue aircraft, is being installed with gravity pipework with an
as-built cost of £1.5 million, featuring a specially designed £300,000 stormwater
attenuation system to replace existing drainage into Findhorn Bay.

Designed and made by Tubosider UK, the leading manufacturer of steel
stormwater attenuation systems, the system is being installed by contractors
AMEC for AMEC-Turner under a framework agreement for the MOD. This has
a design brief calling for an attenuation main at the airbase capable of retaining
2000 cubic meters (or 2 million liters) of effluent.
